Australian referee Paul Marks has been dropped from the Super
14 officials panel, according to The Australian
newspaper.
The Australian said on Thursday that Marks was
removed after his controversial handling of the New South
Wales Waratahs versus Sharks match in Sydney last weekend.
Marks was criticised by Sharks coach John Plumtree after he
failed to award the South African team a penalty try when
Kurtley Beale knocked down a pass that appeared to deny the
Sharks a late try.
The Sharks lost 25-21, their fourth successive loss of the
season. SANZAR referees chief Lyndon Bray said a penalty try
should have been awarded, according to The Australian. South
African official Pro Legoete was also dropped by the
referees' selection panel.
