New Zealand universities have slipped in rankings from the
latest international survey of tertiary institutions.
Auckland University is the only NZ university to have made it
to the top 100, according to the Quacquarelli Symonds World
University Rankings 2010.
Auckland slipped seven places to 68 this year while Otago
University dropped from 125 last year to 135.
Canterbury fell one place to 189 while Massey was ranked 302,
down from last year's 299.
Victoria managed to climb to 225th position from last year's
229th.
The top 10 positions were dominated by US and British
universities with Cambridge, Harvard and Yale occupying the
top three positions.
Overall rankings are based on an online survey distributed to
academics worldwide with reports released annually.
