Now in its 83rd year, the Student Christian Movement book
exchange has become an institution of O-Week, with students
coming back each year to save money on textbooks.
The manager of this year's sale, Rosina Scott-Fyfe (20), said
the sale benefited everybody, with students getting a chance
to sell their textbooks and a percentage of the money going
Importantly, buying textbooks from the sale was significantly
cheaper than buying them new, Ms Scott-Fyfe said.
She said there was no reason the sale would not be running in
another 80 years, but expected it to change over time.
''We had one person come in and sell his lab coat and it sold
straight away, so maybe we will evolve to not just taking
textbooks,'' she said.
The sale, held at All Saints' Hall, 786 Cumberland St, also
runs next week from Monday to Thursday and is open from 10am
