The University of Otago council has agreed to add the doctor
of commerce degree to the university's list of honorary
degrees.
The decision followed a recommendation from the university
senate.
Prof George Benwell, pro-vice chancellor, commerce, had
earlier written to the senate, saying the Otago commerce
division had recommended the change, and noting that three of
the seven other New Zealand universities offered this
doctorate as an honorary degree.
