Another of the men arrested in connection with an alleged
Auckland local body elections voting scam can now be named.
Paramjit Singh, 48, appeared in Manukau District Court today
facing two charges of using forged documents and one of
breaching of the Electoral Act.
His interim name suppression was lifted in court this
morning.
The man charged is not the prominent Manukau lawyer, also
named Paramjit Singh, the Stuff website reported.
Detective Inspector Mark Gutry told NZPA two arrests had been
made this week, bringing to five the total number of people
charged with election fraud after allegedly forging change of
address forms involving hundreds of voters in south Auckland.
They include prominent Papatoetoe ward candidate Daljit
Singh, who told NZPA he would defend the charges.
Details of the two latest arrests were expected later today.
