The Imperial Russian Ballet Company brings its acclaimed
Swan Lake to Otago next week.
The masterpiece ballet follows the original storyline (with
the happy ending) which was decreed by Soviet rule in the
1930s under Stalin, while incorporating classical and modern
choreography.
The Imperial Russian Ballet Company comprises 40 dancers from
the major Russian ballet schools, including ballet stars
Patrick Dupond (Opera de Paris), Farukh Ruzimatov, Yulia
Makhalina and Diana Vishneva (Mariinsky Theatre), Nikolai
Tsiskaridze, Lyudmila Semenyaka and Nadezhda Pavlova (The
Bolshoi Theatre).
The Imperial Russian Ballet Company performs Swan Lake
at 8pm next Wednesday, October 14, at the Regent Theatre and
at 8pm on Thursday, October 15, in the Oamaru Opera House.
