Ben Silver is at home after school, shooting a stop-motion film on his old video camera.

In the movie he stars as Sydney's toughest cop. Then real police arrive looking for his parents, who are at work at the rundown car wreckers his dad owns. Later, Ben and his annoying younger sister Olive are shocked by their parents' hasty arrival and their demands they pack quickly because they are going on holiday.

Ben is immediately suspicious because they have never gone on holiday before. He manages to find out they are going to his late grandfather's cabin in the country, but that's all he is told. It's the beginning of a crucial time for Ben, who harbours a secret desire to be a police detective.

The two wolves of the title is a reference to the good and bad in all of us: which will win the battle for control of Ben?
