Azalia Snail.
American musician Azalia Snail joins a solid group of
bands from Dunedin and Wellington playing at Dunedin's Bethunes
Gully Music Festival next weekend.
This weekend's show is the second organised by the Proxy
Music Crew and spokesman John White is pleased with the
line-up, which includes many familiar faces from the
alternative music scene.
Wellington's The Golden Awesome feature two former
Dunedinites, Johannes Contag and Stef Animal, who have teamed
up with Matt Steindl and Justin Barr, of the Raskolnikovs.
This is their first show in Dunedin.
Formed in 2008, Mountaineater have played numerous shows and
released a 7" record on Dunedin's Monkey Killer Records. The
band is: Chris Livingston, Anaru Ngata and Tristan Dingemans,
of HDU.
One of the newest band's on the bill are Dunedin's Psychic
Maps. The band is a Dunedin supergroup of sorts, featuring
Simon McLaren (Love's Ugly Children, Subliminals), Chris
Heazlewood (King Loser, Cash Guitar) and Jeff Harford (The
Rip, My Deviant Daughter).
Youngsters Sewage describe their career to date quite simply:
"[We] got together, made some music, played some gigs, won
the Otago Rockquest - sweet."
Stephen Kilroy and Heath Te Au formed Heka as a two-piece,
but in recent times the pair has been joined by former Suka
bass player Tenzin Mullin on bass.
