This animated DVD release is a fine addition to the Batman legend.

Gotham, where the bad are mad.

A metropolis sagging under the weight of gansters, sewer-dwelling mutants and a mythical hero who takes flight to fight for the good and the true.

The animated Batman Gotham Knight comprises six chapters in the saga - our caped hero battles the Croc, an enormous fire breathing mutant; the Scarecrow, a scythe wielding psychopath; and Deadshot, a cyborg sniper.

Originated by Bob Kane decades ago, this franchise looks like becoming one of the runaway success stories of the year with a much anticipated feature, The Dark Knight, receiving rave reviews around the globe.

And make no mistake, Batman Gotham Knight is a fine addition to that ever-growing body of work.

Ably directed by Anime master Shojiro Nishimi, whose vision of Gotham is both glittering and grimy, the 73-minute movie is a must see.
