In another major boost to their Oscar chances, Nicole Kidman, Naomi Watts and Hugh Jackman have been nominated for Golden Globes.

The nominations, announced in Los Angeles on Thursday, come just 24 hours after the trio scored nominations for the other major pre-Oscar award ceremony - the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Kidman picked up her supporting actress nod for The Paperboy.

Watts is in the running for best lead actress in a drama for The Impossible, while Jackman was nominated for best actor in a musical/comedy for Les Miserables.

The news was not so good for Jacki Weaver (Silver Linings Playbook), Russell Crowe (Les Miserables) and Toni Collette (Hitchcock), who were all snubbed for Globe and SAG nominations and face the prospect of being forgotten in the hype leading up to the announcement of the Academy Award nominations on January 10.

The 70th annual Golden Globe Awards will be held on January 13.

The 19th Annual SAG ceremony will be held in LA on January 27.

The Oscar Academy Awards ceremony is scheduled for February 24.
