Daniel Craig has been told to shut up and stop "bashing Bond" by Sony executives after the actor said he'd rather slash his wrists than star in another 007 movie.

Sources told the New York Post's Page Six Craig's curmudgeonly comments had not gone down well, saying: "Craig is pretentious and thinks he's better than Bond, that it doesn't give him the creative range he needs."

Craig's cranky outburst during an interview with London's TimeOut magazine followed what was reportedly a tough shoot for the newest installment in the franchise, Spectre.

"I'd rather break this glass and slash my wrists [than do another film]," he said after being asked whether he was considering acting in future Bond movies.

"No, not at the moment. Not at all. That's fine. I'm over it at the moment. We're done, all I want to do is move on."

He added that the only reason he would return to the franchise would "be for the money".

One source told Page Six, "It was a very difficult shoot, to say the least."

"They had problems initially with the script, Craig was injured on the set and needed knee surgery, and they were still doing reshoots last month, even though the movie is out in weeks."

Sony reps declined to comment and Craig's rep didn't respond to Page Six's request for comment.
