New Zealand has left its mark on a pop star.

Last night, Lady Gaga - who repeatedly professed her love for New Zealand during her three concerts - posted a photo of herself with a bruised face.

The "clonker", as the star called it on her Twitter page, was from an incident in her final New Zealand show when she was hit in the head by a pole.

Lady Gaga was performing the song Judas about halfway through her Vector Arena show in Auckland last Sunday when a large metal pole fell and hit her on the head, giving her concussion.

Video clips posted on YouTube show a backup performer striking the US star with the set prop while removing it from the central stage. The singer, holding a mock machinegun, staggers and rubs her head before briefly leaving the stage. At the time, she promised fans the show would go on.

Lady Gaga, who is now in Australia, also posted a thank you message to her fans, whom she calls her "Little Monsters", for their support after the incident.

"I feel a bit woozy but a little better everyday," she said on Twitter.

Her makeup artist Tara Savelo will be in charge of covering up the bruise, and assured Little Monsters the star was being well looked after.

"Gaga has a concussion but she is going to be okay. She wants u to know she loves u. I'm taking care of her. cant believe she finished the show," she wrote on Twitter.
