Everything and anything

The sounds of summer are all around. But, what are the musicians themselves listening to? Nigel Benson finds out.

Kylie Price
Age: 20.
Occupation: Musician.

What sort of music do you listen to on the road?
I listen to everything and anything. I have a country playlist on my phone that I'll play as loud as I can handle and Into The East to chill out. Then when I want something to sing at the top of my lungs to Katy Perry will be present and then, once I tire of her, I'll listen to Matt Corby to reflect on the wonders of life. But, Mumford And Sons is always played amongst the mix. Always.

What songs are on your turntable/CD player/iPod this summer?
Definitely Lorde. That kid is a freak of genius creativity. I wish we were best friends. Also Florida Georgia Line - such a great country band. I really dig John Mayer's latest album as it's rather different to his previous sound. Imagine Dragons are up there as well. I really like Ruth Moody and Lauren Aquilina. And, of course, Mumford and Sons.

What is an album you recommend?
I've thrashed Daughter's If You Leave. An amazing album if you're looking for something to daydream to. Plus Pure Heroine from our good girl Lorde.

What is your perfect summer music scene?
I'll be over in Tamworth for summer, so that's full-on music. Anywhere you can have a beer with your friends in the sun is the perfect summer music scene.

What is your perfect summer music scenario?
Backyard cricket with Speight's on the go and the stereo blasting. Long summer nights are wonderful in New Zealand. There's something about Kiwi summers that can't be beaten.
