CD Reviews: Clean Bandit

Gleefully fusing electronica and live classical strings, the debut from self-styled ''electronic chamber music quartet'' Clean Bandit looks to capitalise on the success Rather Be.

With a mix of classical virtuosity (courtesy of cellist Grace Chatto and Milan Neil Amin-Smith's violin) and sonic explorations of virtually every stratum of dance, there is a playfulness which renders the likes of Mozart's House the giddiest of delights.

Yet towards the second half, the novelty starts to wane, with limp lyricism, syrupy harmonies and kitschy strings bloating their serviceable mid-tempo dance grooves.
