CD Reviews: Quantic

Producer, musician and DJ Will ''Quantic'' Holland's exploration of cumbia, salsa, soul, funk, reggae and jazz from his base in Colombia continues with Magnetica, a typically busy collaboration with a veritable League of Nations of guest singers and players.

This time, Holland puts himself in the frame, his heavy electronic beats merging seamlessly with the more traditional elements and framing the album as a dance-focused piece.

If there's a downside to Holland's all-embracing approach, it's that some of these very strong musical personalities sit a little uncomfortably alongside each other.
