CD reviews: Death Cab for Cutie

Among the leading lights of the early-noughties emo boom, it was only a matter of time before Death Cab for Cutie released its ''divorce album''.

On the band's eighth outing, lead cabbie Ben Gibbard chronicles his split from starlet Zooey Deschanel, while also making reference to the departure of guitarist and founding member Chris Walla.

But Blood on the Tracks this ain't.

While brisk, chorus-heavy pop and jangly intimacy remain the band's stock-in-trade, lyrically, Everything's a Ceiling and You've Haunted Me All Your Life recall prom night in a John Hughes movie.
