Dianne Madill is feeling the ‘‘luuurve''.

So much so, in fact, the Dunedin woman has organised a Valentine's Day concert tonight at the New Edinburgh Folk Club's headquarters in Dundas St, inviting people to perform some less obvious love songs (though she won't disclose exactly what tunes will be played).

Mrs Madill has good reason to feel in the mood.

Although she likes the idea of celebrating romance, February 14 is also her birthday. And it's also the day she and husband Peter got married (18 years ago).

‘‘We had organised a birthday party at our Auckland home and invited 90 people, but it was a surprise wedding. Only Peter's parents knew what was happening. We nearly let it out of the bag when we were setting up.

‘‘Peter and I had been together for 11 years and he thought we should get married on my 50th birthday,'' Mrs Madill recalls, adding, ‘‘Valentine's Day is important to me. It is worth recognising.''
