Kiwi musician Lorde is in the middle of writing her new album, and she's enlisted the help of a famous friend for the project.

Lorde revealed on social media that she is working with American music whizz Jack Antonoff on her upcoming album.

In a post to Instagram Lorde wrote "lamby being too cute for this world keeping me company while i write lyrics/haunt lena and jack's house," along with a picture of Antonoff's dog, Lamby.

Antonoff also posted on his own account a photo of Lorde taking a photo while the musical pair were out with a group of friends.

Antonoff, recently won a Grammy for his work on Taylor Swift's 1989 record, which won Album of the Year at the awards show. Antonoff has also worked closely with artists such as Fun., Carly Rae Jepsen, Sara Bareilles and Australian pop newcomer Troye Sivan.

He is also the partner of Girls star Lena Dunham, known Swift "squad" member.

Dropping more hints of what may be in store for her new album, Lorde tweeted out lyrics to a song, writing "she can ruin your faith with her casual lies" and "she only reveals what she wants you to see". The lyrics are from Billy Joel's track 'She's Always a Woman'.

It is believed Lorde has also been working in Kingsland, Auckland, with producer Joel Little, who worked with Lorde on her debut album Pure Heroine. This new release marks the first album since Pure Heroine's release in 2013.

No official release date has been announced for Lorde's upcoming record, but the star promised fans that new music will drop sometime in 2016.
