The 23-year-old filmed a special guest appearance on Shortland Street while he was in the country for an iHeartRadio concert in May.
The New Zealand Herald's The Diary went along for the filming at the South Pacific studio in Henderson.
Producers were tight-lipped on specific details of the scenes and dialogue for Sheeran's cameo; however, The Diary said he acted alongside the teen stars of Shortland Street, including KJ Apa (Kane), Lucy Elliott (Dayna) and Sophie McIntosh (Honour).
The episode will screen at 7pm on TV2.
