Meadowbank to be new 'The Block' neighbourhood?

The central Auckland suburb of Meadowbank is being tipped as the next neighbourhood set to be transformed by popular television series The Block NZ.

Fairfax is reporting a letter has been distributed to residents of St Johns Rd advising them of plans to build and film activity in their street next year.

The letter from the show's producers, Greg Heathcote and Emma White, has just been delivered to a group of select residents and invites them to a community meeting tomorrow night to discuss the reality television show moving in.

Representatives from MediaWorks and the Auckland Council would be attending the meeting at St Chad's Church.

The agenda includes a brief overview of the project, a question time and representatives from council and television giving their perspectives on the project.

It says only those who receive the letter will be able to attend.

The shows producers tell affected residents they "consider it a privilege to work in the community and will do everything possible to ensure that we cause minimal disruption to your daily lives".

For residents' own privacy and that of neighbours it warns against speaking to the media.

Fairfax says a house on large section has recently been demolished at 71 St Johns Rd.
