Everyone is welcome to join the City of Dunedin Choir and
soloists to sing "Messiah". We invite the audience
to add their voices to this performance and to experience,
first-hand, the glory of this oratorio composed by Handel.
At the end of the "Messiah" manuscript Handel wrote the
letters SDG, "Soli Deo Gloria" (To God alone the glory). This
inscription, together with the speed of composition
(completing the entire oratorio in 24 days), has encouraged
belief in the story that Handel wrote the music in a fervour
of divine inspiration. Come share the glory with us.
