Southern Sinfonia present The Last Night of the Proms - a cricket celebration

The Proms - one of the most popular music events in Dunedin will be a musical celebration of the England vs. New Zealand Cricket Test from March 6 -10 in Dunedin.

With close to 170 musicians on stage, the programme will showcase a very wide range of popular classical music performed by outstanding musicians from Dunedin and around New Zealand.

Under the baton of conductor Marc Taddei, our soloist Helen Medlyn, self-described ‘jill of all trades', will perform popular Andrew Lloyd Webber songs.

Also on stage will be the City Choir Dunedin, celebrating their 150th anniversary, and New Zealand and English cricket personalities who will be performing as guest percussionists in Johann Strauss's Feuerfest.

MC for this musical cricket celebration is broadcaster Bryan Waddle, known as "The voice of New Zealand cricket", who will be urging the audience to produce their very best singing and flag-waving and celebrating the boundaries!
