Hayden Paddon's Hyundai Motorsport team has been flat out
building the top New Zealand rally driver a new car for this
week's FIA World Rally Championship rally on the Italian
island of Sardinia.
Dunedin rally driver Emma Gilmour won her first national
rally championship round yesterday, becoming the first woman
to win a New Zealand Rally Championship (NZRC) event.
She has been New Zealand's first lady of rallying for a
decade and now Emma Gilmour has achieved a top-tier result.
Dunedin rally driver Emma Gilmour has been chosen to go
cross-country rallying again, this time competing in the
330km Italian Baja from June 24 to 26.
In an "incredibly gracious'' gesture, injured Southland racer
Ian (Inky) Tulloch has committed his Camaro GT3 to contesting
the North and South Island endurance titles, in the hands of
his co-driver, John McIntyre, and a new recruit.
There will be the
weight of expectation riding on board with Hayden Paddon and
John Kennard as they fire up their Hyundai i20 WRC car in
Portugal this week.

championship dreams are in tatters, yet she's already
determined to bounce back.

crashed into a photographer in her first Women's Motocross
World Championship (WMWC) race and sustained event-ending
injuries on Saturday.
Epitomising the humble New Zealand athlete, Women's Motocross
World Championship (WMWC) leader Courtney Duncan is not
letting her new-found fame go to her head before the third
round this weekend.
The surname Veitch is synonymous with motorcycles in Dunedin,
so it is no wonder the youngest male member, Grason (13), is
a motocross star in the making.
