This year's races are brought to you by Interislander, in a national summer campaign that is sure to be fun for all ages. |
A day at the races is becoming an increasingly
family-oriented event for holiday makers and Roxburgh
gets its turn on the harness racing circuit on Thursday,
January 5.
The Interislander Summer Festival harness race meeting series
sees the Roxburgh Trotting Club host an event at the Roxburgh
racecourse, where the club will run its annual cup race as
part of the day's programme.
The festival meetings are billed as a relaxing and fun family
picnic day with top-class harness racing, free
entertainment for the children and plenty of activity for all
ages.
However, the festival is about entertainment for all andthere
will be prizes and competitions for all ages.
Children are well and truly catered for with plenty of free
entertainment. Included at the event is the New Zealand
Racing Board's own children's activity programme including
new and exciting events such as the Interislander Ferry
Race, the Popsicle Moon Hopper Race, the Under Cover
Cody Hat Toss plus an old favourite with a twist, the More FM
Chart Toppers Sack Race.
Add in activities such as mini-Jeeps, bouncy castles, a
colouring competition and the popular Kids Go Racing
activities and the children will be fully occupied all day
long. Best of all, it is free!
Mini-marquees are also available for hire although
availability is strictly limited. The marquees allow people
to enjoy the social picnic atmosphere in comfort. They house
about 10 people and offer race goers a great base from which
to enjoy their picnic day on a prime piece of real estate
with a great view of the track.
These would be perfect for businesses or families and friends
getting together for the holiday season.
