"It's kind of everyday glamour with effortless style,'' says Cherry Austin-Spivey of her new label Mickey Loves Mallory, which was launched earlier this year and which signifies a return to the Dunedin fashion design world for the vivacious lady.

Austin-Spivey first made national fashion news as the "Cherry'' part of the exuberant Cherry Cotton Candy label which was launched by Tanya Carlson at the 2004 New Zealand Fashion Week.

It was a way of attracting a youthful following to clothes with 1950s styling and a sporty demeanour.

Austin-Spivey had begun work in Carlson's then Dunedin design studio after completing studies at the New Zealand Institute of Fashion Technology. She has since gone on to work as a freelance stylist, set designer, graphic artist and interior consultant.

The new Mickey Loves Mallory clothes are available at Belle Bird boutique and online.
