The Woolstore Cafe's caramel oaty slice

Caramel filling

2 tins condensed milk
200g butter cut into small cubes
4 Tbsp golden syrup

Base

250g butter, melted
2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
2 cup flour
1 cup wholemeal flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 cup rolled oats

Method

Caramel

Place condensed milk and butter in microwave-proof bowl and microwave until butter has melted, about 2 minutes. Stir, microwave for a further 2 minutes, stir again, add golden syrup. Stir until all is combined and looks lovely, like caramel. Set aside till cooled.

Base

Mix all ingredients together well.

Press three-quarters of base into a lined 23cm x 33cm slice tin.

Add caramel filling and sprinkle rest of base over top.

Place in oven heated to 180degC and bake for 25min-30min.
