A series of special "pop-up'' dining experiences will be held throughout Dunedin as part of the International Food Design Conference and Studio later this month.

The three-day conference based at Otago Polytechnic will feature international speakers such as Nigeran chef Michael Ade Elegbede and Dutch food designer Marije Vogelzang as well as New Zealand chefs, including Guilio Sturla and Al Brown.

Organiser Prof Richard Mitchell said the pop-ups were a way to show Dunedin people what was happening at the conference.

As part of the series of pop-ups held on June 29 and 30:

• Otago Polytechnic Food Design Institute students will create a winter market featuring hearty street food.

• Dunedin food designer will explore diverse food cultures.

• Chef Hannes Bareiter will showcase his favourite producers at Glenfalloch.

• Alex Davies will highlight the conference's theme of sustainability and zero waste.
