Back in Motion helping kiwis solve ongoing back pain

ODT Online Advertorial

Back or neck pain can come at any time. Heavy lifting, repeated bending and being in a sustained posture increases the risk of back pain. One morning you are bending to lift a child's toy and the next thing you are bent over like a half-shut pocketknife clutching your back. Similarly, you could wake up with a locked and painful neck.

All sorts of things go through your head. Have I slipped a disc? Do I have cancer? Will I be able to move comfortably again? Will I be able to return to work? These are natural responses to sudden pain. The good thing is that only a small proportion of people with back or neck pain require surgery. The majority will respond well to quick intervention.

Spinal manipulation and mobilisation have been shown to be of significant value in treating acute back and neck pain. Most people respond well to the many techniques available to take pressure off the painful site and stretch the surrounding structures. Getting good pain relief quickly prevents ongoing pain . . . knock it on the head! It is just as important that you keep moving. When the pain decreases you will need some strengthening work and education on preventing further similar events. Get the tools to help yourself.

Back in Motion has been helping people with neck and back pain for more than 20 years. Its physiotherapists use manipulation, joint mobilisation, acupuncture and exercises to assist you with managing both acute and long-standing neck and back pain.
