Extreme fitness challenge: I almost puked today

Tough day at the office
Tough day at the office
Week 6 Day 16: I got this text message while picking my daughter up from her dad's house: "Ooooo! It's a goody tomorrow! See u in the morning team! Alannah". That's not a good sign.

It's the final week and I'm not ready for the season to be over. Although I've had my highs and lows (sometimes real low), I've been having a blast and I really don't want to lose my level of fitness that I've worked bloody hard for as the next season doesn't begin until late January.

No surprise that today was another hard TF session. I'm so exhausted, I've been working Christmas hours which means working 6 days a week and 5 of those are late night, ten hour days.

Seriously considered going back to sleep when my alarm went off at 5:30 this morning.

By the time I actually hauled butt, there was no time for an "up and go" which is my secret weapon I use before my workouts I also use it because I can't stomache any solid food that early in the morning (missing this was not a good idea).

Today I felt really ill during my workout. I got a bad case of the 'dizzies' and had to sit down and wait for it to pass and I also felt like I was going to puke, I had a number of things working against me on this session like:

1. I think I had a little sun stroke from yestday's scorcher (31 degrees!)
2. I didn't get to have my 'Up and Go' breakfast drink
3. I was also really dehydrated

This is obviously not a winning formula for a high performance athlete like myself (laughing)!

Here's what today's session looked like:

Normal warmup:

  • Run around the block in the rain
  • 50m walking lunges (I don't like this exercise)
  • 50m toy soldiers
  • 30 press ups (Yes!, I did six manly ones!!! oh yeah! That's twice as many as last time!)
  • 30 situps

Main workout:

We had 15minutes to do the following:

  • 500m run
  • 50m sabre tooth crawl
  • 10 push ups
  • 50m inch worms
  • 10 sumo squats

Then we had to do the following:

  • 100 wall balls
  • 100 burpies
  • 100 box jumps
  • 100 mountain climbers

I chose the 100 mountain climbers first (there really was no "easy" first choice). I managed to get through the first part in just under 15mins so I was lovin' it!

Then I got stuck ito the next part and it all started going downhill from there! 100 wall balls - tough as hell but if you break it down into the right bunches of reps you can get through them pretty good At this point I've completed 100 mountain climbs and 100 wall balls and I'm burning hot, thirsty and a tad dizzy but I keep going.

I begin the 100 burpies, this is where the dizziness and nausea started to make itself known. I hate it because I know I could've done it but my body wasn't having any of it!

The rest of the workout goes as follows:

  • 50m alligator crawl
  • 10 sumo squat jumps
  • 50m crab walk
  • 10 push ups

I was a little disappointed with today because I know I've only got two more workouts left so I'm trying to make them count and to be completely frank: today just pissed me off!

Right, I'm off to sulk (just kidding) I'll catch up with you on my second last session, see ya Wednesday!
