Emma and a few of the girls doing box jumps
Week 6 Day 17: So after a terrible session on
Monday I made sure to have an up and go this morning. Just as
well too, no dizziness and pukey feelings this time. Makes all
the differnce for me and I am not at all a 'breakfast first
thing in the morning' kind of girl.
Today was definitely my favourite out of all the workouts so
far.
Interestingly, I had been forewarned that this session or the
next was going to be tougher than usual (if that's at all
possible), so I have been extremely apprehensive about
showing up. "Luckily" my 'stick it out til' the end' macho
attitude won't let me off the hook even if I'm terrified as
to what may lay ahead.
I arrive at the gym, (quietly crapping inside) stepping into
the tribe room I am happy to see there is not much written on
the "whiteboard o' death" not necessarily always a good thing
but in this case it was great!
So after the usual warm up of a run around the block, walking
lunges, toy soldiers, push ups and sit ups - we got straight
into it with some fun today.
We had to do a 3 minute workout of the following:
5 burpees
10 box jumps
15 Everest climbers
50m sprint
This was done repeatedly for 3 minutes with a 1 minute rest
before continuing again x8.
The idea was to try to get further each time you reach the 3
minute limit or at least stay where you ended up the last
time and not get behind. For example, by the time I finished
my first 3 minutes I was up to the second round of box jumps.
So my mini-goal is to keep hitting the second round of box
jumps or go even further by the end of each 3 minute block by
going as hard as I can.
As you continue the rounds and get to about the 5th rep, you
start getting really knackered and welcome the 1 minute rest.
Ha ha, we were all fighting over the fan during the rest!
My knees are surprisingly sore at the moment so I had to do
fast box steps instead of box jumps. I love the sprint part.
I'm really enjoying running. I hate mountain climbers they
seem to hurt my knees all the more. The burpees weren't too
bad because I only had to do 5 at a time.
By the time we had finished I was so proud of my efforts!
Really felt like I had given it my all. I am so sad that this
was my final session before the fitness test on Friday which
I am freaking out about - why?
The test day is the same test that I did on my first workout
session and if you've read that post you'll have seen that I
was absolutely wrecked, I didn't even finish the test so I'm
worrying about how I'll do in my final test tomorrow. I
remember it being so bloody hard and I'm terrified to fail
and not even finish!
Fingers crossed guys! See you in the final session!
