Creating a romantic bedroom need not cost the earth.

A soft and cosy throw or satin pillow cases will spice things up a bit.

You can create a bed skirt by sewing fabric to an existing sheet or tuck it in around the bed and allow it to puddle.

• Lighting is essential when planning your space.

Install a dimmer for instant ambience. Add a few things at a time and be patient with your design.

Stick with your budget and buy quality products on sale whenever possible.
