Hort Talk at noon in the Botanic Garden
Centre, upper Lovelock Ave: "Installing Hard Landscaping -
rock walls, steps and drainage", by Robyn Freeth, collection
curator, Dunedin Botanic Garden and Alan Ferguson,
horticulture lecturer, Otago Polytechnic. Project leaders
from Dunedin Botanic Garden's soon-to-be-opened Mediterranean
Garden share their experience.
Monday, September 6
Alexandra Horticultural Society meeting, 7.30pm, in the
Education Centre, Dunorling St, Alexandra. Speaker Brian
Seymour on the community garden. Supper and plant stall.
The Maori Hill Garden Club will meet in the
Maori Hill Community Centre, Highgate, at 10.30am.
Following morning tea, two club members will give an
illustrated talk on European gardens they visited last
year.

Tuesday, September 7
Brockville Garden Club meets in the Community Church Hall at
1.30pm.Afternoon teas, raffles and sales tables. Talk on
safety in the garden. Competition: spring bouquet.
Bonsai meeting 7.30pm, Holy Cross Hall, Ajax
St. Follow up on April workshop, members to bring along trees
they worked on that night for further development. Also ideas
for next year's programme. Tree of the Month: Conifer, full
cascade, novice/beginner.
Wednesday, September 8
Dunedin Rhododendron Group invites members, and those
interested in joining, to its annual meeting, at 7.30pm in
the Botanic Garden Centre, Lovelock Ave. Speaker: Botanic
Garden rhododendron collection curator Doug Thomson on "San
Francisco gardens of contrast and surprise". Plant sale.
Taieri Garden Club will meet in the McKerrow
Lounge Presbyterian Church, Mosgiel, at 7.30pm. Please note
change of programme. A fun quiz night is to be held.
Competition table, sales and supper.
North Otago Garden Club will meet in the
Union Parish Hall, Oamaru, at 7.30pm. Please bring flowers
and a container to make a posy bowl or flowers to make a
herbal "tussie mussie". We will share ideas about our
favourite carrots and a plant that delights us. Flower of the
month: polyanthus family. Everyone welcome.
Thursday, September 9
Fairfield Garden Club annual meeting at the
Fairfield Community Hall, 7.30pm. Speaker physiotherapist
Andrea Moseley on accident prevention. Competition: one vase
of spring flowers. All welcome.
Blueskin Garden Club's next meeting will be
held at 7.30pm in the Waitati Hall. Subject is floral art
demonstrations on the topics of the spring flower show. All
welcome. The usual raffle, bloom and vegetable or produce
competition and supper.

Otago Daffodil Club meets at the Janet Cameron
Lounge, Shand St, Green Island, 7.30pm. Learn more about

Thursday, September 16
The Otago Alpine Garden Group will hold its annual
meeting at 7.30pm at the Botanic Garden Centre, Lovelock Ave,
Dunedin. Guest speaker is Robyn Freeth, of the Dunedin
Botanic Garden, speaking on "The New Mediterranean Garden", a
new garden feature at the Botanic Garden.
Otago Orchid Club, meeting St Peters Church
hall, Hillside Rd, 6.30pm. Pot luck meal followed by a
presentation by Kevin and Helen Western, of Australia.
Members please bring a main dish and dessert for pot luck

Maungatua Spring Flower Show at the Outram Church
Hall in Holyhead St, Outram, 2pm. Competitions include cut

The Dunedin Horticultural Society's Grand Spring
Show at Forbury Park Raceway, St Kilda, Dunedin,
