Tomorrow, February 22
Botanical Society of Otago field trip to Omaui, Invercargill, 7.30am-6pm. Exploration of a dune and shore community with Brian Rance, Doc, Invercargill. Meet at 7.30am at the Botany Department car park in Great King St. If you wish to go, contact David Lyttle to arrange transport on 454-5470.

Tomorrow and Sunday
Dunedin Horticultural Society's grand summer show, tomorrow 2pm to 5pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm, Forbury Park Raceway, Dunedin. Tomorrow afternoon at 2pm and Sunday afternoon at 1pm: Unusual vegetables, their history, and how to grow and cook them. Admission, adults $5; members and children, free.

North Otago Dahlia Society table show, Oamaru A&P Showgrounds. Hall open from 1pm today, tomorrow 9am-4pm. Inquiries to Mary, (03) 439-4765 or Sue, (03) 439-5115.

Monday, February 24
Palmerston Garden Circle bus trip to Maple Glen. Bus leaves Palmerston Community Centre at 8am. Bring morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, drinks and a chair. Raffles will be sold.

Wednesday, February 26
The first orchid meeting of the year will be held at 7.30pm in St Peter's Church hall, Hillside Rd. Subject: orchid culture. Members please bring along anything of interest that has happened to your orchids over the break. Visitors most welcome. For more information, (03) 454-2113.

Thursday, February 27
Taieri Garden Club, in conjunction with the Festival of the Plains, evening self-drive garden tour of four Mosgiel gardens, 5.30pm-8.30pm. Tickets $10 from Garden Place, Wal's Plant Land, Mitre 10 Mosgiel. Inquiries to Amy, 489-1473 or Nola, 476-3994.

Saturday, March 1
Dunedin Dahlia Circle annual show, Forbury Park Raceway, 1.30-4pm. Free. Otago Daffodil Group will have bulbs on sale.

The Catlins Horticultural Society autumn show, Owaka Community Centre, Ovenden St, from 1.30pm-5pm. Adults $3, children free. All welcome.

Sunday, March 9

Monday, March 10
Otago Southland branch of the NZ Camellia Society annual meeting, 66 Signal Hill Rd, Opoho, 7.30pm. Public welcome ... door open. Followed by DVD, ''All in this tea''.
