Arrowtown Horticultural Society Spring Flower Show, Athenaeum Hall from 1pm-5.30pm. Adults $3, children free. Stalls, plants sales, afternoon tea. Come along and enjoy the wonderful display of blooms, crafts, baking and children's art.

Today and tomorrow, October 17-18
Otago Orchid Club orchid show, Downes Room, Mosgiel Library, 10am-4pm. Displays, raffles, sales table. Potting demonstrations 11am, 1pm and 3pm. Contact, 454-2113.

Tomorrow, October 18
Waikouaiti-Karitane Presbyterian Parish Garden Day, 11am-4.30pm. Six gardens plus plant and produce stalls at the church hall, Kildare St. Tickets $10 from the hall, includes Devonshire tea. 465-7897.

Monday, October 20
Palmerston Garden Circle. Bus leaves for Maple Glen Rhododendrons from behind Palmerston Community Centre at 8.30am. Bring morning tea, lunch, drinks and a seat. Raffles will be sold.

Tuesday, October 21
Get Composting Workshop, Aspiring Beginnings, Warren St, Wanaka, 6-8pm. Easy ways to compost at home, with Dr Compost: finding a system to suit you. Bokashi, traditional compost heaps, worms. Funded by Queenstown Lakes District Council. Free.

Sawyers Bay Garden Club meets Emmanuel Church hall, Station Rd, Sawyers Bay at 7.15pm. Speaker: Noeline Ombler ''Plants and Flowers of Rarotonga''; competitions: Dinner table arrangement, rhododendron large and small, 2 stalks of rhubarb. All welcome.

Wednesday, October 22
Otago Orchid Club meeting St Peter's Church hall, Hillside Rd, 7.30pm. Orchid presentation. Contact 454-2113.

Taieri Garden Club members to meet at the Presbytarian Church, Mosgiel, at 6.15pm to car share for visit to Graham Hunt's rhododendron garden, Tirohanga Rd. Supper at Margaret Young's house at 8 Alpine Cl. Contact Amy, 489-1473, or Nola, 476-3994.

Thursday, October 23
The Otago Herb Society meets at St Patrick's Centre, 32 Macandrew Rd at 7.30pm. Tomiko Cowell will talk about Japanese herbs and teas. Visitors welcome.
