This year's Dunedin Ecumenical Festival of Flowers in Praise
will be held in St Paul's Cathedral, in Dunedin, from
February 13 to 16, the 43rd time the annual event has been
staged in the city.
The theme is "Love thy neighbour" and more than 40 floral
displays based on the Bible injunction will be on show.
Each year, funds raised from the sale of programmes ($2 each)
and a plant and produce stall are donated to a charity chosen
by the festival committee.
This year's charity is Habitat for Humanity, a Christian,
not-for-profit organisation that works in partnership with
other agencies to eliminate substandard housing by building,
renovating and selling simple homes that are affordable.
It was founded by former US President Jimmy Carter and his
wife, Rosalynn.
"We feel this is a special charity and we hope it will be
well-supported," Ecumenical Festival of Flowers in Praise
spokeswoman Gaynor Earl said.
Habitat for Humanity has built 13 homes in Dunedin.

Ecumenical Festival of Flowers in Praise is open from noon to
5pm on Saturday, February 13 and Sunday, February 14; from
9.30am to 5pm on Monday, February 15; and from 9.30am to 4pm
on Tuesday, February 16.
There will be an official blessing at 2pm on the Sunday.
