What smell do you find irresistible?
I am a huge flower fan and love the smell of oriental lilies. I try to have a vase of them on my kitchen bench while they are in season. I also grow sweet peas so that I can have the smell of them in my home as well. Apart from that, my other favourite smell is the smell of my daughter's neck. Delicious!
What is one strong childhood memory?
I am one of four children and we are all really lucky because our mother was amazing at being creative with Christmas. The Christmas my sister and I got our bikes, when I was 6, was a special time. My parents had set up a treasure hunt around the neighbourhood (so that they had timeto go to get the bikes). The whole neighbourhood was in on it. When we got back to our home,we both had a shiny new bike each. My sister had a red Raleigh 20 and I had a green Cruiser.
What is your message?
"If you know something to be true and don't act upon it, you are wasting your time. And time is precious - it's the only thing we have." I take nothing for granted in this life. I expect nobody else to do it for me, I am fully aware that if I want things to change, I am the only one who can make that change.
If you were going to an island and could only take three things, what would they be and why?
My crockpot. Power might be an issue, but you never know when you will need to cook a turtle or two and I'd imagine that you'd have to cook it long and slow so that it was tender. My vacuum cleaner. I am hideously OCD when it comes to cleaning and I would want my island shack tobe spotless. My daughter Maggie, who is 11. I'm a mother first and without her I would have no rudder.
What's something only your family knows about you?
That when I was 6, I face-planted the concrete floor and broke my two front teeth off. Once they were replaced, three years later I was trying to be the Man from Atlantis in a swimming pool and cracked them on the bottom and broke them again. My two front teeth are now welded in!
