Five questions with: Anna Hughes

Anna Hughes, of Dunedin, is acting regional co-ordinator of Enviroschools.

What was the best birthday present you ever received, and why?
On my 40th birthday, family and friends cycled on the Alps 2 Ocean cycleway. Cycling over a hill on the day I became ''over the hill'' was a perfect gift to keep me feeling young.

What smell do you find irresistible?
New Zealand's native beech forest after rain.

What is your least favourite thing about humanity?
Selfishness and greed. We are all about convenience and what is easy for us right now. We need to start thinking of others across the world and future generations.

What's something only your family knows about you?
That I don't like to share family secrets.

You are a new addition to the crayon box. What colour are you, and why?
I'm a mix of deep forest green and crystal-clear river blue because these are the colours of things that nurture me and make me feel good.
