New Zealanders love to travel, especially to Copenhagen
Airport, but they don't want to tip when they get there,
according to a new top 10 travel "loves and loathes" list.
The list, released by House of Travel, is the best and worst
of travel, retail director Brent Thomas said.
"The list shows that everyone has their own pet likes and
dislikes, but there are definitely some that most Kiwis
share," he said.
New Zealanders were fond of super-cheap Thai food and not
making their beds but hated passport photographs and having
to fight for the armrest, he said.
Kiwis love:
1. Your own entertainment system - and starting movies as
soon as you board.
2. Counting down the number of sleeps until you leave.
3. Standing in front of Big Ben, the Pyramids or Taj Mahal
and realising that you've made it.
4. Getting entrenched in the local customs and culture.
5. The blast of heat you feel on arrival for a tropical
break.
6. Copenhagen Airport.
7. The super-cheap Thai foot massages at Bangkok Airport.
8. Not having to make your bed every morning.
9. Curries, "real pizza", pastries, ceviche - authentic fresh
local cuisine.
10. Getting home and planning your next trip.
Kiwis hate:
1, Passport photographs.
2. Virtually every airport in the country "making some
changes".
3. Early morning international flights.
4. Having to take your laptop out going through security.
5. Having to "fight" for the armrest.
6. The realisation that you only have one more sleep before
you go home.
7. Hotels and beaches that are nothing like their website
pictures.
8. The "bad hair days" caused by humid holiday spots.
9. Unpacking and finding that your toothpaste, moisturiser or
shampoo has leaked.
10. Tipping - why is that porter just hanging around?
