Jonathan Gardyne (23) arable and sheep farmer of Waikaka and Kayla Grant (21) registered nurse.

Met four years ago before study took them apart to Christchurch and Dunedin. Four years of long-distance later, Jono asked Kayla to marry him in the gardens of Larnach Castle, after luring her out around Otago Peninula to pick up a stranded friend.

The couple were married at St John's Presbyterian Church in Arrowtown, by Rev Neil Hamilton on a beautiful autumn day on May 11, 2013.

Arrowtown/Queenstown was the location of choice due to the beautiful surroundings, and easy accessibility for North Island family.

The reception was held at Distinction Hotel at Arthurs Point, a beautiful boutique hotel with an elegant reception venue and spacious rooms for the bridal party to prepare in.

The Grecian-style spa was certainly a bonus the night before the wedding! They did all on-site catering (amazing!) and setting up, making our day incredibly stress free.

The dress was ivory lace, with a figure-hugging mermaid shape.

The bridesmaids' dresses were designed by each of the bridesmaids themselves, keeping the fabrics and length the same. The designs were executed by our very talented Riversdale dressmaker. Groomsmen were dressed by McNight and Brown.

The flowers were peonies, artificial as the time of year was not right for these beautiful blooms. Fabric roses constructed by the dressmaker, brooches, and grains from the Gardyne farm were also added to the bouquets and buttonholes. Ambrosia florist in Invercargill was the mastermind.

Highlight was making a much anticipated promise to each other on a beautiful day with a dusting of snow on the hills, and brilliant autumn colours.

Our photographer was the amazing Emily Adamson Photography in Queenstown.

Mr and Mrs Gardyne are farming at Waikaka.
