Full names: Shona Anne Tayler (Moore) 34 and Matthew Tayler 36 Occupation: Sheep and beef farming Region: Garston, Southland When and where did you meet? We met online 6 years ago. I was in Cambridge (originally from Southland) and Matt was on the home farm. Matt flew up to meet me and 6 months later I moved back south and we’ve never looked back. The proposal: Matt one morning just knelt down on one knee, presented a ring and asked me to marry him. Very simple and sweet! Where was the wedding? Grandview Gardens, Outram. Why did you choose this venue? We talked about having the wedding on one of the family farms, but we knew that would involve a lot of work and all we wanted was an easy, stress-free, relaxing day we could both enjoy. My parents have a holiday house in Taieri Mouth, so we had a look around that area and found Grandview Gardens on the ODT wedding guide. It was perfect. An all-in-one venue, with a great country garden theme. It was as country as we could get away from the farm and Jo was fabulous to deal with. The dress: My gown was from House of Kavina in Dunedin. I wanted a dress that was simple and elegant, and after trying on many, Mum kept pointing to a dress beside her. Eventually I gave in and tried it on and that was the one I fell in love with! Mums know best. It’s a chiffon sheath gown made by Stella York. It’s strapless with a sweetheart neckline, a crossover ruched bodice and a satin beaded belt. The ladies finished the dress off with a gorgeous full-length veil with a lace trim. The bridesmaids' dresses:  I knew exactly what I wanted for my bridesmaids but had trouble finding it. In the end, I had them made by dressmaker Val McMillan of Arrowtown. I wanted dark teal fabric, accessorised with purple, to go with the autumn colours. I also hoped to incorporate lace into the dresses and after a lot of hunting around found a chiffon, satin and lace that all worked together. Val did a fabulous job to create the dresses I wanted. They are A-line, knee-length chiffon with short sleeves, a lace bodice and satin sash. The flowers: We used Samantha from Flowers on Mornington. I wanted purple flowers to go with the teal bridesmaids' dresses. Samantha showed me these gorgeous purple anemones. The bridesmaids' bouquets were made up of lavender roses, purple freesias and purple anemones. The bridal bouquet was made up of white and lavender roses, purple chrysanthemums and anemones. The caterers: We used Just Essence. We wanted a buffet with good simple food and plenty of it, as many of our guests were farmers and we didn’t want them going hungry! Jo from Grandview highly recommended Just Essence to us and they did a great job. And we got loads of comments on their dessert tower! Highlight of the day: Walking down the aisle and seeing one another and the delight and happiness we shared for the rest of the day. You really don’t know how happy you are until the moment. Your photographer: Our photographer was Chris Garden from Dunedin. I wanted a photographer who could capture the autumn colours and beautiful light at that time of the year. My brother put me on to Chris, as he knew he had a great photography background and also did weddings! We couldn’t have been happier with Chris’ photos. As well as capturing many lovely shots of us and the bridal party, what we have come to love as much is the great candid shots he took of our guests. When we go back through the photos they really re-create the feelings and emotions we felt at that time and in my opinion, that’s what a good photographer should do. Favourite photo One that captures a moment between us with the beautiful autumn-coloured leaves and light in the background. The other is of the bridesmaids and me on Taieri Mouth Beach
