When and Where did you meet?

We met at high school, we were in the same year at school and had a great friendship that grew into more. We became official in November 2009, had our son Tyler August 2014, engaged October 2015.

The proposal

I got a box of chocolates from the florist on Friday saying to pack my bag, we were away for a night and a babysitter had been arranged. It was a surprise the whole way. We drove to Manapouri air field and I was informed we were going up the mountain in a private helicopter for a picnic. Once we got to the spot, the pilot left us up there for 30 minutes. James had the ring, a picnic basket full of goodies and bubbles. And of course I said yes!

When and where was the wedding?

The wedding could have not been more perfect for us. We had it at the Cardrona Hotel on Friday 08/04/2016.

Why did you choose the venue?

We loved the pub atmosphere. The relaxed day feel was perfect for us, and Tyler had plenty of room outside to run around. We had 29 guests so it was perfect that everyone got to stay with us at the pub too.

The dresses and suits

The boys got their suits from Hallensteins and looked like they should be advertising for them. I got the girls dresses from Pagani for a bargin. My dress was from Brides by Donna in Invercargill. My dress was unique, comfortable and totally me.

The caterers

Cardrona Hotel took care of the food. We had an amazing cheese and meats platter after the ceremony and a wonderful buffet for our wedding breakfast.

Highlight of the day

The highlight would have had to have been when we did our first look down by Lake Wanaka. We chose to take the majority of our photos in the morning so we could spend more time with our friends and family. May Dad still got that special moment of giving me away, he actually did it twice, when he walked me down the aisle too.

Our photographer

Teresa Van Hout, a familt friend who has MADD photography.
