Waimate

The voluntary community service of four Waimate district residents has been recognised by the Waimate District Council at its first civic awards.

Motorcycles of all shapes, sizes and costs were heading for Waimate yesterday in what organisers hope will be the biggest March Hare rally in the 24 years it has been running.

The potential for residential development in Waimate has received a boost with the completion of the Timaru Rd sewer extension and the start of the High St sewer extension.

"That was so awesome," Stephanie White enthused after competing in the second division barrel race at the Waimate rodeo yesterday.
