A power cut in Wanaka about 11am yesterday was caused by a
fault in protection equipment at the Wanaka substation, Delta
systems control manager Graeme Johnson, of Cromwell, said
yesterday.
Long-serving Wanaka conservationist Stu Thorne has retired
from his day-job of 40 years to volunteer for more of the
same on a remote Pacific Island, 1000km away from New
Zealand.
Detailed designs for a single-lane roundabout at the
intersection of Ardmore and Brownston Sts in Wanaka should be
completed by the end of June, and construction is likely to
begin sometime in the 2010-11 financial year.
