Dunedin accountant Jono Bredin will early next month be part of an exchange programme aimed at strengthening economic relationships with Japan.

Mr Bredin (25), a tax manager for Pricewater-houseCoopers, will be part of a group of 50 New Zealanders in the Future Business Counterparts programme being funded by the Japanese Government.

The aim of the programme was to give young New Zealand professionals an insight into business between the two countries by increasing their understanding of Japan through lectures on Japanese society, visits to major Japanese industries and interaction with Japanese people, he said.

Mr Bredin was attracted to the programme because Price-waterhouseCoopers had clients with businesses in Asia and the Asian economies were expected to grow significantly in the future.

The programme runs from June 1 to June 11.
