CRT adds Westland store to network

South Island rural servicing company CRT has strengthened its presence on the West Coast with the purchase of the Westland Farm Centre store in Hokitika, from Westland Milk Products.

The deal involves the purchase of the Hokitika store from the dairy processing co-operative.

This will complement CRT's existing West Coast retail network in Westport, Greymouth and Whataroa.

Westland Milk Products chief executive Rod Quin said divestment would allow Westland to focus on its core business of sourcing, processing and marketing milk.

He said 95% of Westland's 380 shareholders were also shareholders in CRT, which is also a co-operative company.
