shade sail. Photo by James Beech
The 217 year 1 to 6 pupils of Remarkables Primary School
can now take time out from the summer sun, with the
installation of three shade sails on the school grounds.
The long-awaited sails cost $30,000 and were paid for from
the proceeds of the inaugural "Glittering Peaks" fundraising
auction and dinner in November. The balance of the $38,000
raised has been earmarked for extra resources for the
library.
Principal Debbie Dickson said yesterday two more sails were
to be added, as part of the school's "Sun Smart" policy.
Trees providing shade had yet to grow and shade sails were
vital for children's health and safety, Mrs Dickson said.
• The first annual meeting of the Remarkables Parents
Association will be held in the staff room of the Frankton
