Fletcher building appoints CFO

Fletcher Building has appointed Telecom executive Nick Olson as its chief financial officer to replace Bill Roest, who is to retire from the company in 2013.

Olson has been chief financial officer at Telecom since 2010, having held several other senior finance roles since joining Telecom in 2002.

Before joining Telecom, Olsen has about 13 years of investment banking experience in New Zealand, New York and Hong Kong. He will take up his new job in April 2013.

Fletcher Building chief executive Mark Adamson said Olson had considerable experience in financial management and had proven abilities managing complex and dynamic environments.

"He will bring to the role fresh perspectives which will aid our strategic thinking and operational management processes, and I am looking forward to working with him," Adamson said in a statement.

Roest has been Fletcher Building's chief financial officer for the past 11 years. He has worked for the Fletcher group for almost 40 years and has been a key member of the senior executive team since Fletcher Building's listing in 2001.

Adamson said Roest had been actively involved in the company's growth strategies of the past decade and, in particular, the company's expansion into Australia.
