Stephen Macaulay has been appointed to the newly created
chief executive role at the New Zealand Institute of Primary
Industry Management.
Mr Macaulay was previously general manager of the
Agricultural and Marketing Research and Development Trust
(AGMARDT) and, before that, general manager of the Retail
Meat Industry Training Organisation and Retail Meat New
Zealand.
Mr Macaulay will be leading the organisation at a time when
industry sectors and government agencies are looking to it to
help the farming community work through some important
issues.
President Wayne Allan said those issues included increased
regulation of land use with respect to water quality and
environmental performance, as well as the continued
development and profitability of farming systems. The NZIPIM
is a membership-based association for rural professionals who
provide services for the primary sector. It comprises about
700 members from a wide variety of occupations, including
agribusiness and farm management consultancies, education
providers, farm finance and accountancy firms, rural banking,
farmers, fertiliser companies, rural valuation,
agri-sciences, property management and veterinary services.
