The $5 million development of the former Glendermid
Leathers tannery site at Sawyers Bay, in the lower left of this
aerial photograph, remains on track for completion in mid to
late June this year.
Port Otago is redeveloping the site and creating a storage
and distribution warehouse for port-related activities.
Yesterday, Port Otago civil engineer Andy Pullar said the
earthworks component, being undertaken by Fulton Hogan, was
about four weeks away from completion.
Building consent had not yet been obtained but that was
expected within the next couple of weeks. Calder Stewart will
build the warehouse.
The redevelopment had gone ''probably better than expected''
so far, Mr Pullar said.
