Former Justice Minister Sir Douglas Graham may be stripped of his knighthood with the appeal against conviction of the Lombard directors set to be dismissed today.

Prime Minister John Key has delayed making a decision on Sir Douglas' knighthood until the appeal has been decided.

Four directors of the failed finance company appealed against their convictions after being found guilty last year of making untrue statements about Lombard's position in offer documents in December 2007.

The Crown appealed against the sentences, saying they were too light, and it is thought some of the sentences are set to be increased to include home detention as well as community service.

Sir Douglas Graham and Lawrence Bryant were sentenced last year to 300 hours of community service and were ordered to pay $100,000 reparation.

Another former Justice Minister, Bill Jeffries, and Michael Reeves were sentenced to 400 hours community service.

The maximum penalty for the convictions was five years' jail or a fine of $300,000.
